The King's Life Guard of Foote
being the regimental & reconstructed history of
King Charles I's own regiment in the English Civil War.


The Reconstructed Regiment: Campfollowers
Clothing: Wool outer and wool or linen underskirt (petticoats; bum roll optional).
Wool bodice (with or without stays) or jacket.
White linen shift and cap (hat is optional, worn with a cap).
Wool stockings, optional wool oversocks, plus proper style shoes.

Note: Campfollowers are free to choose colors of cloth, mainly keeping to drab or muted dyes (“sad” colours). Campfollowers may also have cloaks/capes or else wear an old and severely tattered soldier's coat. Optional: Canvas/linen sack or leather snapsack and wicker basket for belongings, plus wool blanket, eat ware and personal items. All cooking utensils are usually provided through the respective company/unit.
Campfollowers
The following campfollowers that we currently have photos of are displayed below (since they usually get overlooked in military units!) However, this should give you an idea of the type of clothing worn by an English campfollower of the English Civil Wars, as well as early colonists in the 17th Century.
